Artist Statement

I discovered my passion for art later in life while raising my children and going through cancer and other health issues. Now that they have graduated and are off to college and I have reached a health equilibrium, I finally have the opportunity to explore my voice and decide what I want to tell the world.

 

Through my work, I do my best to shine a light in the dark and advocate for those deemed "less than" in a way that makes it understandable to those who live without these burdens. While my projects may be difficult subjects to consider sometimes, I’ve discovered joy in the creation process. Bringing my ideas into being through paint, clay, fiber, and other materials has brought me fulfillment that I didn’t know I was missing.
